Apple Tart's story
Apple Tart's story:
Apple Tart was transferred to our rescue from the Russell County Animal Shelter along with her long time companion, Puddin Pie. The girls were surrendered when their senior citizen owner could no longer care for them. It is clear that the girls were well-loved, but that their owner was not able to take care of them properly for quite some time. They are both overweight and were in desperate need of a bath.
Apple Tart and Puddin Pie are incredibly sweet and also very bonded with each other. They will be adopted out together because they have been together their whole lives, and they need each other. We will be placing the girls in a new forever home together so as not to cause more instability in their lives.
Apple Tart is likely a black lab mixed with... something else. She's a very short little lab if that's what she is. She loves to walk on a leash with Puddin Pie, in spite of her size. She's on a diet along with Puddin Pie, and they are both already looking and feeling better!
They are a bit timid due to their new predicament. They were used to a quiet home with their owner and now find themselves in a shelter.
They warm up quickly and their disposition could not be more forgiving. Open your heart and your home to these sweeties and you won't regret it.

Home visits required and dog adoptions often do require structural fencing. (We make decisions regarding the fencing requirement on a dog-by-dog basis, according to the dog's exercise needs and energy level.)  Stafford SPCA does not condone the exclusive use of invisible fencing.  We reserve the right to deny placement of puppies and kittens into homes with children under 5 years old.
