Fredericksburg District Shop seeks someone to perform diagnosis, replacement, repair and rebuilding tasks of some variety and difficulty on vehicles, road construction and maintenance equipment.Use specialized diagnostic equipment and tools.Make accurate repairs that conform to accepted industry standards.Perform preventative maintenance.

Examples of general repairs include maintenance on dump trucks, snowplows, spreaders and hydraulic systems such as pumps and valves and electrical components.Also diagnosis and repairs to differentials, transmissions, A/C, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.Prepare daily time cards with charges and description of tasks performed.Promote and practice safe work habits to achieve an accident free work environment.

Position is essential in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of effective PM, diagnostic and repair techniques and procedures relating to a variety of gasoline and/or diesel vehicles, construction and/or maintenance equipment. Skill in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to perform heavy manual labor and to read and follow written and oral instructions. Valid drivers license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Skill in the use of diagnostic testing equipment. Ability to operate various types of equipment. Related work experience and /or specialized training/education in equipment repair. Ability to coach and instruct others in diagnostic and repair techniques. Ability to use cutting and welding equipment. CDL is preferred.

Special Requirements

This is a wage position. No state benefits are provided.

Position(s) are TEMPORARY and will be utilized for emergency situations ONLY.

Positions are limited to working maximum of 300 hours between October 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. Positions will be filled as needed and recruitment will continue based on position availability and business needs.

Fingerprint based background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. Position is designated as essential to emergency operations and will be required to work outside normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
