1980 Porsche 924 Turbo (931 for sale in Stafford, Virginia

1980 Porsche 924 Turbo (931)
Second owner. 62000 original miles. Has factory M471 option (stiffer springs, 4 wheel disk brakes, 16? ?manhole cover? wheels), 5 Speed Z pattern transmission, 2L turbo 4cyl. havana brown, even though the paint code shows mocha, Brown leather Interior. Factory alarm. Back surgery and furlough force sale, I do not want it to rot in the garage. Not overly fast off the line but is outstanding in the curves. Good restore candidate or track day car. I have the original invoice for the car as well as some records from the previous owner. I purchased it with 26000 miles on it. The previous owner only drove it a couple of times a year. I have maintained it since. Other than oil changes, tune ups, brakes pads and tires, no major work has been done to it (or needed). Fresh VA State inspection.

-No cooling issues..
Issues to be aware of:
-If parked on a slight decline / hill, it will start to smoke after 45 seconds of starting for about 30 seconds. If parked on an incline it does not do this. The plugs show no sign of oil burning, it?s from an emissions line into the exhaust. These engines do not have an oil scraper piston ring and it?s common for these engines to burn oil and show signs of blow by in the air filter box. There are limited signs of blow-by and it uses oil at a rate lower than the manual specifies.
-Transmission has second gear synchro issue. It?s a common issues for these Z-pattern 5 speed transmissions to have an issue with the second gear synchronizer, in order to shift to second from first, you must pause for a second or 2 for the synchro to catch up, otherwise it will grind going into gear.
-The turbo blow off valve rattles only at idle when it the engine warms up. No effect on functionality.
-If you leave it for more than a week the battery will go dead, since I didn?t drive it much, it has a battery disconnect switch. This has always been an issue.
